The Saatva’s coil-on-coil construction provides a classic innerspring feel. It’s a good option for combo sleepers, who will want to feel free to switch positions and avoid feeling “stuck” in the mattress. It comes in three firmness levels, so you should be able to find one that suits your needs. The white glove delivery Saatva provides is an added perk and will save you the headache of getting rid of your old mattress (they take it away for free!). For more information, watch our video review.

What our tester says:

“I think the Saatva is a great option for back sleepers, as the Luxury Firm model provides enough cushioning for their lumbar region, but also lots of support to keep their spine in a neutral alignment.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer

Saatva has a collection of affordable luxury mattresses that range from innerspring to memory foam to latex and everything in between. Wondering which Saatva mattress is right for you? Check out our full reviews below.

“Given that the Signature Hybrid has some excellent bounce, I’d highly recommend this mattress for combination sleepers who often change positions multiple times throughout the night. I also think the Signature Hybrid could be a great fit for couples. You shouldn’t be overly disturbed by a restless partner on this bed, and it has nice, firm edge support.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer

Brooklyn Bedding has been in the bed-in-a-box game for about 15 years. They also own their own factory, which allows them to save on manufacturing costs and pass the savings down to the customer. Even though some of these beds are more expensive than others, all of them give you a great value for what you’re paying.

This mattress does a wonderful job at offering body contouring while still helping the sleeper stay elevated and lifted as well. The layers of foam should provide comfort while the coil system should offer lots of support.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and mattress tester

With soft foam and a sturdy layer of innerspring coils, the DreamCloud strikes a balance between comfort and support — a little bit of contouring up top and on-top-of-the-bed feel that comes from the bottom. It’s a fairly firm mattress that we think is most comfortable for back sleepers. It also has some luxury touches such as a cashmere-blend cover that are reminiscent of a high-end hotel. Learn more in our DreamCloud video review.

What our tester says:

“I really like how luxurious this mattress feels and how it could work for a variety of sleepers. Along with that, I found that the breathable cashmere cover helps the DreamCloud sleep cool throughout the night. Thanks to its medium-firm to firm support, I think the DreamCloud is a durable mattress. It balances support with plenty of pressure relief for back sleepers.” – Bridget Chapman, former Sleepopolis senior product editor

DreamCloud started out with a flagship hybrid mattress constructed with sturdy coils and gel-infused foams. They’ve since expanded to several upgraded luxury models, as well as memory foam counterparts to each of their hybrids. But regardless of which DreamCloud mattress you choose, you can rest assured that they offer a high-end hotel feel and are a great fit for back sleepers.

This affordable mattress is a great pick for those looking to save.

The Nectar is that rare foam mattress that’s supportive enough for stomach sleepers, and should keep their hips aligned with their shoulders.
Pros of the Nectar
The Nectar offers a balanced feel, with contouring and support in equal measure.
Back sleepers should feel supported, but pleasantly cushioned on the Nectar.
Couples shouldn’t be too disturbed by movement, as the Nectar isolates motion well.
Cons of the Nectar
The Nectar isn’t supportive enough to be one of the best mattresses for heavy sleepers, which accommodate folks weighing 230 pounds or more. While heavy side sleepers might be comfortable, heavy back sleepers with chronic pain will need something softer and heavy stomach sleepers will probably need something firmer.

The Nectar delivers a balance of comfort and support: it’s definitely contouring, but still provides a firm enough foundation for most light to average weight sleepers, especially if they sleep on their back or stomach. Plus, a lengthy trial period, lifetime warranty, and affordable price make the Nectar a reassuring choice for many. Watch our video review to learn more.

What our tester says:

“I think back sleepers are going to love the Nectar Classic. These sleepers will get plenty of support from the firm memory foam in the Nectar Classic, which should translate to great pressure relief and a good night’s sleep. Similarly, lightweight and average-weight stomach sleepers should find that they get enough support around their hips to sleep comfortably on this mattress. The Nectar Classic is firm enough to keep these sleepers’ spines in a healthy position.” – Kenny Timper, staff writer and certified sleep science coach

Nectar offers plush, cooling, memory foam mattresses at an affordable price, along with hybrid models that offer extra support. All of these mattresses arrive at your doorstep compressed in a box. All you have to do is unroll the bed, allow it to decompress and off-gas for 24 to 72 hours, then get to sleeping. Best of all, Nectar’s mattresses are usually backed by a forever warranty — a testament to their quality and durability.

The Tencel cover aids with additional cooling. With soft foams and solid support, this mattress is best for back and side sleepers. Learn more in our video review.

What our tester says:

Overall, I think this mattress could be a good pick for couples. Looking at the motion transfer results, it’s a safe bet that you won’t be disturbed by your partner tossing and turning at night. I would suggest couples purchase a queen-size mattress or larger, since the edge support on this mattress is just okay and it may be more difficult to comfortably sleep on the full surface of the bed.” – Madison Schaper, former staff writer

Nolah offers a variety of mattresses, all of which are constructed with a proprietary material called AirFoam. This is meant to be a more breathable alternative to memory foam, allowing the bed to sleep cool. Some of the models are made entirely of foam, while others are hybrid models that also contain springs. There’s even a version of the Nolah Signature that’s all-foam, but built to feel like a hybrid. How to Get the Best Memorial Day Deals

If you’re on this page, you’ll probably want to know how to capitalize on the best Memorial Day deals out there. Aside from checking our sales page for new and updated sales info, there are a few tricks you can use to ensure you’re saving as much as possible at checkout. Take a look below to see the steps we take whenever we’re shopping during a big mattress sales weekend.

Step 1: Select Your Mattress

It can be easy to get distracted by some of the great deals out there, but the most important thing is to first choose a mattress that will suit your individual sleep needs. Nearly every brand does a Memorial Day discount, so you’ll be better off finding a mattress you’ll be comfortable on.

We’d recommend doing some research on different mattress types and reading a few mattress reviews to decide which mattress brands you’re interested in. We’ve linked a few different buying guides below to help you find some options you might like.

Step 2: Compare Company Policies

Once you’ve chosen a mattress (or two) that you’d be comfortable on, you’ll want to take time to read the fine print. Read up on your potential bed’s shipping, sleep trial, and mattress warranty policies. Generally, we’d recommend opting for a mattress that comes with at least a 10-year warranty and 100-night sleep trial.

The best mattress deal in the world can’t replace a high-quality bed, especially if you’re looking to make a long term investment. A lengthy warranty is a great sign your new mattress will last you for many years to come. And a great sleep trial policy gives you plenty of time to test your new bed out risk-free before you decide to keep it.

Step 3: Research Deals Early

Once you’ve done all your mattress research, it’s time to jump into researching deals. Many mattress retailers launch their sales early, so if you’re in a hurry to get your new bed you could make a purchase in early May. Generally, the best deals are live at least a week before Memorial Day, so you can make a purchase without interrupting any of your holiday plans.

Is it Better to Buy a Mattress Online?

As you may have noticed, the Sleepopolis team recommends buying a mattress online. There are a few reasons we’re big fans of choosing an online mattress, which we’ll outline below.

  1. It’s cheaper. Online mattress brands are often able to offer better deals because they cut out the overhead costs associated with brick-and-mortar mattress stores. This means you’re getting the best deal possible on a new bed, even when you don’t shop during holiday sale events.
  2. It’s easier. Shopping online makes it easier to comparison shop and hone in on exactly what you’re looking for. Instead of being limited to the few options you can find in-store, you can search based on specific features and still find a wealth of options. Whether you’re on the hunt for a medium-firm organic latex mattress (like the Avocado Green) or a pressure-relieving bed designed for hot sleepers (like the Purple mattress), you’ll have several options that meet your needs to choose from. Plus, traditional brick-and-mortar mattress brands like Sealy, Serta, and Tempur-Pedic all offer online buying options these days.
  3. It’s less stressful. Aside from cutting out the stress of dealing with pushy salespeople and confusing showroom prices, shopping online can feel safer, especially during these times. Though COVID-19 restrictions are easing, it can still feel overwhelming to test out a bed many other people have already laid on. Shopping online allows you to choose (and test) a mattress from the safety and comfort of your own home.
