If you’re looking for the ultimate luxury mattress with a classic innerspring feel, let me introduce you to the Saatva Classic. This bed is near and dear to my heart for one reason: It’s the mattress I sleep on every night. I’ve been doing so for over six months now, so I’ll give you the full run-down of the bed’s long-term performance in this updated review.
Of the hundreds of mattresses the Sleepopolis team has reviewed, the Saatva Classic is a consistent favorite of ours, thanks to its robust corner-to-corner support, springy responsiveness, and above-average cooling.
Our team of certified sleep science coaches and mattress experts has been testing and reviewing mattresses for three years. In our studio in Charlotte, NC, I’ve worked with a team of mattress testers and other professionals to evaluate more than 330 mattresses using a thorough testing methodology.
We also received input from Dr. Joe Tedesco, DPT, OCS, ATC, CSCS, who tests mattresses in our studio and evaluates them for pain relief, and our chief medical advisor, Dr. Raj Dasgupta, MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM, who provides expert insight for common sleep issues and ensures our advice aligns with the latest in sleep science and medicine.
Hint: If you’re a luxury mattress shopper, combination sleeper, or someone who likes a bed with a lot of support, you should keep reading this Saatva Classic mattress review.
Our Saatva Mattress Review, Summarized
After testing the Saatva Classic mattress with my colleagues (and as someone who owns this model myself), I found it to be a near-perfect fit for back sleepers, combination sleepers, and couples who want a supportive and responsive sleep surface. Its springy coil-on-coil construction and plush Euro top create a balanced feel that keeps back sleepers comfortably supported and properly aligned. However, lightweight sleepers may find the mattress a bit too firm unless they opt for the Soft model. Its limited motion isolation could also be an issue for couples who wake easily from movement during the night.
The Saatva’s coil-on-coil construction provides a classic innerspring feel. It’s a good option for combo sleepers, who will want to feel free to switch positions and avoid feeling “stuck” in the mattress. It comes in three firmness levels, so you should be able to find one that suits your needs. The white glove delivery Saatva provides is an added perk and will save you the headache of getting rid of your old mattress (they take it away for free!). For more information, watch our video review.
What our tester says:
“The Saatva Classic’s springy surface is perfect for combination sleepers looking for ease of movement as they toss and turn throughout the night. Also, back sleepers are perhaps best suited to the bed’s lifted support and balanced cushioning from the pillow top.” – Livvi DiCicco, staff writer and certified sleep science coach
Our Review Process
At Sleepopolis, our team of Certified Sleep Science Coaches personally test each mattress. We start by unboxing the mattress to figure out how difficult (or easy) it is to get the mattress from the box to the bed. Then, we spend time lying on the bed in different positions, taking time to assess it on our backs, stomachs, and sides. Next, we perform our Sleepopolis tests, using specialized tools to measure qualities like motion transfer, bounce, and pressure relief. Our last step is to open up the mattress and take a look at each layer. These steps allow us to give our final verdict on the mattress.
Saatva Classic Mattress Sleepopolis Scores
Our Scoring System
We rate each mattress on a scale from 1 to 5 to reflect its overall quality. The number is comprised of individual scores from hands-on testing of materials, firmness, pressure relief, motion transfer, cooling, responsiveness, and more. Learn more about our methodology.
Saatva Classic Mattress Overview
The Saatva has a unique coil-on-coil construction, meaning it boasts a whopping two innerspring units for added support, bounce, and durability. The first is a pocketed coil layer with zoned support (firmer in the center for lumbar support), and the second is a more classic layer made up of interconnected springs. Despite its firm and supportive base, it still has a plush Euro top that gives the bed a luxurious feel.
The mattress is available in three different firmness levels (Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm) and two height options (11.5” or 14.5”). For reference, I have the Luxury Firm model — and coincidentally, that’s the one we also tested in our mattress studio. Still, there should be something that works for everyone, especially if you’re looking for a soft but supportive, springy mattress.
One way Saatva differs from most online mattresses we review is that it’s never compressed in a box. It arrives fully formed with free white glove delivery, meaning that the company sends someone to your home to deliver the mattress, set it up, and then haul off your old one. I took full advantage of this service when I moved, and it made the process much more seamless. It also takes away unwanted side effects of bed-in-a-box mattresses, like off-gassing or waiting for it to fully expand.
Who I Recommend the Saatva Classic for
- The Saatva Classic’s springy surface is perfect for combination sleepers looking for ease of movement as they toss and turn throughout the night.
- Back sleepers are perhaps best suited to the bed’s lifted support and balanced cushioning from the pillow top.
- If budget isn’t an issue, luxury shoppers should appreciate the Saatva Classic’s hotel-bed feel and white glove delivery.
- Sexually active couples can take advantage of the bed’s responsive surface and edge-to-edge support for security in their activities.
Who I Don’t Recommend the Saatva Classic for
- Lightweight sleepers may find this bed a touch too firm to allow them to sink into the pillow top — if so, they should consider sticking to the Soft model of the Saatva Classic.
- The bed’s lack of motion isolation might turn off light co-sleepers seeking an undisturbed night’s rest.
Saatva Classic Mattress Review Video
Want a better look at the Saatva mattress before I get into the full written review? Check out our video to see the bed’s materials up close and how it performed during our tests. Note that we’re working on an updated video, so the scores in our written review may not be the exact same as those in the video.
We put this bed through a volley of mattress performance tests to gauge where it shines and where it could use some work. I’ll dive deep into each process and the Saatva’s results so you can get a feel for which test category might be most important for you to consider.
Pressure Relief for Side Sleepers
A mattress with good pressure relief should, as the phrase implies, take pressure off areas that dig into the mattress. Pressure relief is an essential concern if you sleep on your back or side. It’s also something to consider if you have back pain, hip pain, or other medical conditions that may require extra cradling.
Dr. Raj Dasgupta adds that, “An ill-suited mattress can cause pressure points to form in the hips, shoulders, or other sensitive areas. It’s important to look for a bed with materials that will relieve pressure, such as cradling foams or latex.” The Saatva has foam in its lofty pillow top, so let’s see how it holds up in our pressure relief tests.
We have testers of different weights lie down on a mat that’s placed over the mattress, which then maps out an infrared image showing where pressure is building up. Blues and greens mean low pressure, whereas yellows and reds mean high pressure. We want to see more of the former. We’ll also take a look at the PSI, which is an average rating of how much pressure is distributed across the entire mat.
Additionally, we invited our chief medical product tester and licensed physical therapist, Dr. Joe Tedesco, to test the Saatva in every sleeping position and offer feedback from a clinical perspective.
Overall, we rated the Saatva Classic’s pressure relief for side sleepers at a 3.8 out of 5. While its robust innerspring construction offered ample support and alignment, some of our testers found that its firm construction failed to provide cushioning along pressure-prone areas like the hips and shoulders.
Generally speaking, Dr. Tedesco found it to be a solid choice for side sleepers seeking a steady surface to help them maintain spinal alignment.
“I feel very even pressure distribution from my ankles up to my neck,” said Dr. Tedesco. “However, I can feel the springs more on my side than I do on my back. That said, I think the mattress is doing its job by supporting my weight and keeping my body aligned.”
As for individual scores, our lightweight tester, Asha Birjah, rated the Saatva Classic at a 2 out of 5 on her side when it comes to relieving pressure. The map showed quite a lot of green and yellow on her hip.
She also said, “I feel a lot of pressure in my shoulder and upper back. I don’t feel any strain on my lower back, but I don’t feel like my hips are aligned with my spine.” Her average PSI rating was 11.35, which is still on the lower side. However, she suggested that she wouldn’t recommend this bed for lightweight side sleepers.
Our average-weight tester, Erin Chiles, gave this bed a 4 out of 5 on her side for pressure relief. She said, “I like this on my side. The mattress is aligning my hips and shoulders and relieving pressure. I usually like beds that are a little firmer, but this plush top feels really nice.” Her pressure map showed only some green and yellow in the hips, but she didn’t seem to notice or mind. The PSI also measured at 12.48, a pretty average distribution.
Our heavyweight tester, Caine Wilkes, ultimately gave the Saatva Classic a 5 out of 5 on his side for pressure relief, saying, “It feels really nice on my side.” He added, “I don’t feel too much pressure in one spot. I usually feel pressure around my shoulders, but I don’t feel that here.” He also said that his spine felt pretty aligned. His pressure map results were all blue and green, and his PSI rating was 15.55, which may seem high, but is pretty great for a heavier sleeper.
Pressure Relief for Back Sleepers
Across the board, the Saatva Classic performed better for back-sleeping for our testers. We gave it a 4.3 out of 5 for pressure relief in this sleeping position. Dr. Tedesco also shared the most praise for the Saatva during testing it on his back.
“I feel weightless on my back on this mattress,” Dr. Tedesco said. “My spine is neutral, with no posterior tilt. This could be great for back sleepers with pain-related concerns.”
Lightweight tester Asha Birjah gave the Saatva a 3 out of 5 for back-sleeping pressure relief. The pressure map showed mostly blue and green, but she still felt a bit of discomfort. She said, “I don’t think my bottom is sinking more than my hips, but I’m not quite even. It feels like my right side is sinking in more than my left side. My shoulders feel uneven but not unaligned with my bottom half.”
Her average PSI rating was 9.22 — again, an even lower pressure score. It may be up to the lightweight sleeper’s personal preference if they’ll enjoy the Luxury Firm, but if they’re worried, they can always go with the Soft option for more cradling.
Erin, on the other hand, gave the mattress a 5 out of 5 for pressure relief. She noted that the bed felt “really nice,” and added, “It’s firm but soft. I can feel the relief in my lower back, and my spine feels really aligned. My shoulders feel good as well.” The pressure map reflected her assurances, showing greens and blues across the board. Her PSI rating was also a fairly low 10.50.
Caine rated the Saatva’s pressure relief at a 4 out of 5, saying it felt “pretty good.” However, he noticed some issues with alignment: “I might be sinking just a little bit, but it’s not terrible. I feel like I’m sinking slightly more around my lower back, but it’s very slight.” Still, his pressure map was mostly blue, and his PSI was similar to his side-sleeper reading at 15.33.
Motion Isolation
My fellow testers and I evaluate motion isolation to see how well a mattress traps movement on one side of the bed and prevents it from rippling across the surface. If you’re a super-light sleeper like me (my college roommate said I would wake up when she was just thinking about getting out of bed) and share the bed with a partner, you may want to prioritize motion isolation.
If a bed is good at isolating motion, it should absorb movements before they travel across the surface, keeping nightly disturbances at a minimum. Unfortunately, I can’t say that the Saatva Classic shone in this category.
Ripple test: During the ripple motion transfer test, Kenny and I used a container full of water that we set on the bed to measure disturbance. As Kenny got into bed and moved around, we checked how the water behaved in the container.
He noted, “After switching back and forth from my back to my stomach to my side and back to my back again, we could all see the water stirring violently in the container. There was never any threat of it tipping over or spilling out, but we still saw lots of movement inside of the container.”
Partner test: For this motion transfer test, one tester lay in bed, blindfolded, while a second tester moved around on the other side. Kenny and I performed this test together, with Kenny wearing the blindfold.
He said, “I can feel every little thing Livvi did and could tell exactly what she was doing despite being blindfolded — definitely not amazing for motion isolation at all.”
As someone who sleeps on this bed every night, I’d have to agree with Kenny’s assessment. I don’t share my mattress with a partner, but whenever I let friends or family sleep over, I can feel every little twitch they make on the other side of the bed.
Overall, both results tallied to a rather disappointing 2.7 out of 5 motion isolation score. I can’t say I’d recommend this mattress for light sleepers who share the bed.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness is a fancy way of saying bounce. Some people like to have a springy or more responsive surface, as it makes it easy to move around in the mattress. Combination sleepers who switch between positions (like yours truly) should love the Saatva for this reason.
With its two layers of innerspring coils, it’s no surprise that the Saatva earned a perfect 5 out of 5 in this category.
Switch test: During the switch test, we roll around on the surface of the mattress to see how easy it is to switch positions. I do this every night with no sweat, as I’m a particularly aggressive combination sleeper, and Kenny seemed to agree that the Saatva is a champ in this respect after his test.
“I had no trouble at all switching from my back to my side to my stomach,” he said. “It was also very easy to hop in and out of bed and roll from one side of the mattress to the other.” He lovingly dubbed this bed “the gold standard for combo sleepers” and gave it a 5 out of 5 for this test.
Responsiveness test: To further assess a mattress’s responsiveness, we place a 53-pound kettlebell on top of each mattress. We allow the kettlebell to sink for seven seconds before removing the weight and timing how long it takes to recover its shape.
Unsurprisingly, the Saatva sprung back to its original shape almost immediately. It only took 0.6 seconds to revert to its original form after removing the kettlebell. If you are someone who constantly adjusts your position to get comfortable, you should have no trouble doing so on the Saatva Luxury Firm.
Sinkage test: For this test, Kenny and I placed the same 53-pound kettlebell on the mattress and used a ruler to measure the sinkage. We measured 4 inches of sinkage on the Saatva, which placed it in the deep sinkage category. For reference, light sinkage is up to 2.5 inches, moderate sinkage ranges from 2.6 to 4 inches, and deep sinkage is 4.1 inches or more.
Bounce test: During the bounce test, a mattress tester climbs a ladder 6 feet above the mattress and drops a 25-pound steel ball on it. A yardstick on the wall allows us to measure how high the ball bounces and determine how responsive the mattress is.
This test yielded an impressive 33 inches of bounce, which is the highest we’ve seen from any mattress so far! It’s no surprise that the Saatva earned a 5 out of 5 for this test and landed in our “high bounce” category. For reference, low bounce refers to anything under 8 inches, moderate bounce ranges from 8 to 12 inches, and high bounce is above 12 inches.
Cooling
If you sleep hot, whether or not your mattress is good at cooling can be a dealbreaker. The Saatva has two innerspring units to keep air flowing through the bed, which should help circulate excess heat rather than trap it. To test a bed’s cooling capability, we perform a number of tests, which we’ve outlined below.
Thermal gun test: First, we use a thermal gun to measure the initial temperature of a bed’s surface, and then again after lying on it for 5 minutes, to see how much it heated up. For the Saatva, we saw the bed rise from 64.8 degrees Fahrenheit to 72.2 degrees Fahrenheit. This 7.8-degree increase is fairly above average when it comes to cooling.
Cover test: We also place our hand on the bed’s cover to see if it feels noticeably cool. Kenny said, “The cover certainly doesn’t feel cool to the touch. I’m not surprised that the organic cotton retains more heat than other materials I’ve tested.”
Feel test: Finally, we have one of our testers lie on the mattress and describe their experience in regards to cooling. Kenny said that the Saatva felt cool, and that he didn’t notice any significant buildup of warmth. In other words, even though the thermal gun said that the mattress was heating up, Kenny couldn’t feel it.
Taking all of this into account, we settled on a 4-out-of-5 score in the cooling department. This means the Saatva should be a solid choice for hot sleepers.
Edge Support
We test edge support to determine how well the perimeter of each mattress maintains its structure with someone lying or sitting on it. A sturdy perimeter is essential for couples, sleepers with bigger bodies, and individuals with mobility concerns, as it provides a secure surface to push down on when getting up in the morning.
After our tests, Kenny and I found that the Saatva Classic is a showstopper in this category, earning an overall edge support score of 4.8 out of 5.
Tape Measure test: During this test, we stack weights directly onto the edge of the mattress and measure how much the bed sinks under each load. We repeat this process three times with increasing weight loads: 99 pounds, 154 pounds, and 198 pounds. Finally, we record the level of sinkage under each stack of weight using a tape measure.
This test is performed to evaluate how well the mattress supports weight along its perimeter. The 99-pound stack represents lightweight sleepers, the 154-pound stack represents average-weight sleepers, and the 198-pound stack represents heavyweight sleepers.
On the Saatva, we saw that the sinkage ranged from 1.5 inches for the lightest stack to 3 inches for the average-weight stack and 4 inches for the heaviest stack. For reference, 3.7 inches is the average sinkage across all the mattresses we have tested. Based on these results, the Saatva should be able to support most sleepers across all weight categories without excessive sinkage.
Seated test: Kenny and I sat along the perimeter of the Saatva for the seated test. After getting in and out of the mattress, Kenny noted, “The coils make this bed feel really sturdy and stable. I don’t think it really budged when I sat on it and pressed down and stood up.”
He also suggested that the mattress would work well for seniors or those with mobility issues, as its solid edge support makes it easier to get in and out of bed. We rated the bed at a 5 out of 5 for this test.
Full body test: Kenny rested along the sides of the Saatva to see if he could comfortably sleep in every position without fear of falling off.
After lying down on the side of the bed on his stomach, side, and back, Kenny reported feeling secure in each. He added, “I didn’t even really feel any sinkage beneath me. I found it very easy to move around and change positions right on the edge of the bed without feeling unstable.”
We gave this test another 5 out of 5 score.
Sex
Based on the 4.8-star edge support, 4-star cooling, and 5-star responsiveness, the Saatva earns 4.6 stars overall for sex, one of the best mattresses for sexually active sleeper. The springy surface should make moving around easy, while the sturdy perimeter provides security and full use of the surface area.
Noise
During our noise tests, we gave the bed a 5-out-of-5 score. Despite having two spring units, we didn’t hear any squeaking or creaking. I can corroborate that 6 months down the line, I don’t hear anything from my mattress — just my bed frame shaking every time I launch myself in and out of bed.
Durability
A mattress is an investment, so you want to ensure you’re getting one that holds up over time. My fellow mattress testers and I evaluate durability by looking at the materials used, the edge support performance, and the warranty. High-quality materials and reinforced support are essential to keeping a mattress comfortable and supportive for decades. The warranty also provides insight into how long the company expects the mattress to hold up.
Overall, we think the Saatva is remarkably durable, thanks to its double-coil layer construction and superb edge support. Saatva also stands by their mattresses with a lifetime warranty for extra peace of mind. Based on our test results, we don’t anticipate this model prematurely sinking or sagging for 10 years or more with proper use.
Saatva Classic Mattress Performance For Couples
With perfect scores in response and edge support, the Saatva should work great for sexually active folks and for couples to spread out on the bed’s surface. Its ability to regulate temperature and keep cool should also help keep co-sleepers from overheating as they share the bed. Based on how the Saatva performed in each of the categories, I’d say the bed should overall be relatively good for couples.

Saatva Classic Value
Many might be turned off by Saatva’s expensive pricepoint, but I’d say the mattress is worth every penny once you consider everything that goes into it. The quality of construction is high on that list, as evidenced by the bed’s dual-innerspring layers and durable materials. This is quickly followed by its level of customization, which allows you to choose both height and firmness.
The company policies are also hard to beat. You have an entire year to try out the mattress, and after that, a lifetime warranty to back it up. And don’t forget about Saatva’s free white glove delivery — the service should make all those new mattress logistics a lot easier, especially if you need to get rid of your old bed.
Overall, I’d say when you take these into account, the mattress is well worth the $2,099 price point. However, you can also wait for one of Saatva’s many sales, which can bring the price down closer to $1,500, if you’re looking to save rather than splurge.

The Saatva is made with high-quality and sustainable materials, including organic cotton, CertiPUR-US®-certified foams, and steel coils. The quality of construction was evident even after we cut it open to see the individual layers, including the dense foam perimeter and double coil unit. It feels well-made and sturdy even after six months of use, so I’m inclined to give the bed a 5 out of 5 for materials.
As another bonus, since the Saatva arrives fully decompressed (and never once compressed), there shouldn’t be any off-gassing or chemical smell. I didn’t notice any discernible scent as I put my sheets on the bed for the first time, so it’s safe to say that those with a sensitive nose should fare well on this bed.
Saatva Classic Mattress Firmness
At Sleepopolis, we rate firmness on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest, like a cloud, and 10 being the firmest, like sleeping on the floor. When it comes to the Luxury Firm model of the Saatva Classic, Kenny rated the bed at a 7.5 out of 10. This is a little firmer than the industry standard medium-firm (6.5 out of 10), which you’ll see a lot in the online mattress market. Dr. Raj Dasgupta, for example, recommends a medium to medium-firm mattress because “it often provides the best balance of support and pressure relief.” However, don’t be deterred hearing that; the best firmness depends on a lot of factors, including personal preference.

Though it has a firmer feel, I wouldn’t say the Saatva Classic is uncomfortable. The pillow top gives some plushness and cushioning at the top, but support is definitely the name of the game with this mattress. It still retains that classic innerspring mattress feel that at times reminds me of my beloved childhood bed.
Below, we also had one of our mattress testers, Kendall, try out the different models of the Saatva so you can get an idea of what the Plush Soft and Firm versions of the bed feel like.
Saatva Classic Sleeping Position and Body Weight
As our Chief Medical Officer Dr. Raj Dasgupta puts it, “Both your weight and preferred sleeping position will have an overall impact on your sleep and which type of mattress is best for you, including the ideal firmness.” As mentioned, we tested the Luxury Firm model of the Saatva Classic, but there are two other firmness options. So, most of our recommendations are based on the assumption that the Soft model is softer and the Firm model is firmer. Read on to figure out which sleeper types should be most comfortable on the Saatva mattress.
Before we dive into our recommendations, though, we want to recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use light, average, and heavy weight categories to more easily group sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 230 pounds).
As a general takeaway, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average-weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average-weight sleepers and tend to sink into the mattress more. As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.
Is the Saatva Classic a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – Lightweight back testers might be comfortable on the Luxury Firm, but should probably go for the Soft for better pressure relief.
- Light Side Sleepers – These folks should only stick to the Soft model for the best chance at sinking in and relieving pressure. Otherwise, we wouldn’t recommend the Luxury Firm model.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – Lightweight stomach sleepers should be pretty comfortable on the Luxury Firm as it should give them the lift they need without allowing their hips to sink too far into the bed.
Is the Saatva Classic a Good Mattress for Average-Weight Sleepers (130–230 pounds)?
- Average-Weight Back Sleepers – These folks should love the Luxury Firm model. It’s got the right amount of support and contouring to keep you aligned and comfortable.
- Average-Weight Side Sleepers – Average-weight side sleepers should feel relatively comfortable on the Luxury Firm, but if you want to play it safe for even more cushioning and pressure relief, you might consider the Soft. I personally sleep on my side on the Luxury Firm and get enough pressure relief, though I’ve always preferred firmer beds.
- Average-Weight Stomach Sleepers – I’m an average-weight sleeper and I sleep on my stomach regularly on the Luxury Firm. I find it to be supportive with enough cushioning for my chest and tummy.

Is the Saatva Classic a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 230 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – Some heavyweight black sleepers may want to consider checking out the Firm version of the Saatva, as the Luxury Firm may not be firm enough to provide the support.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – Heavyweight side sleepers should feel the right amount of support from the Luxury Firm model while also feeling enough sinkage to cradle their hips and shoulders.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – I think most heavyweight stomach sleepers should find the support they need on the Luxury Firm, but it’s possible they may want something a touch firmer, at which point I’d recommend considering the Firm mattress.

Saatva Classic Policies
My personal customer experience with Saatva was exceedingly positive. I had issues with my delivery address since I was moving, and upon calling the number on Saatva’s site, I spoke with a person (not a robot) who ensured I would receive my bed at my new address after I moved in. Just for that, I’m tempted to give them a 5 out of 5 right off the bat, but we have other factors to consider.
Saatva’s 365-night trial is another highlight of the brand’s shopping experience. It means you have a full year to try out the bed and return it (though it’s important to note there is a flat $99 return fee). After that, it’s backed by a generous lifetime warranty. Just be careful that you don’t accidentally void it; make sure you’re using the correct foundation or base for your mattress, and opt for a mattress protector.
And while we usually have to score the bed’s unboxing experience and how long it takes for it to rise, this isn’t an issue with Saatva, given the brand’s white glove delivery. A team of experts comes to your house to remove your old mattress and set up your new one — for free! If you’re wondering about the specifics, Saatva partners with a local shipping or moving company to get your bed delivered. You may be at the mercy of the company’s drop-off or pick-up times, but all I had to do was call Saatva for the contact details in case I ran into any issues.
With all this in mind, we rated the overall customer experience at a 5 out of 5.
Saatva Classic Vs Competition
There are a lot of mattresses out there, and you might be wondering how Saatva stacks up against the competition. Let’s pit this bed against some of our other oft-recommended mattresses to see which works for whom.
Saatva Classic vs WinkBed
The WinkBed is another hybrid mattress with a lifted feel, thanks to its industrial-strength coils and dense pillow top. Though it’s a bit more affordable than the Saatva Classic, this mattress comes compressed in a box, meaning you’ll have to wait for it to fully expand and move it yourself. Both beds come in firmness levels that range from soft to firm, and both should provide a luxurious sleep experience.
- Price: The WinkBed is a bit more affordable than the Saatva, and is regularly priced at $1,499, thanks to sales and coupons.
- Sleeping position: Both beds offer multiple firmness options, so there should be something to choose based on your preferred position. However the Saatva is a better choice for back sleepers, while the WinkBed may work more for stomach sleepers.
- Cooling: Both beds could be considered cooling mattresses, but Saatva scored a bit higher in this category.
- Body weight: The WinkBed has a Plus option that’s designed specifically for heavyweight sleepers. Both beds may be too firm for lightweight sleepers.

Saatva Classic vs Nolah Evolution
The Nolah Evolution is a luxury hybrid featuring dense layers of foam on top of a strong coil unit, much like the Saatva Classic. However, this bed stands out for its pressure relief and slower-moving feel, which is at odds with the Saatva’s super-springy surface. Both beds are of a high quality and offer multiple firmness levels, but each may work better for different types of sleepers.
- Price: The Nolah Evolution is a bit cheaper than the Saatva Classic, and sales can often bring the price down to $1,424 for a queen.
- Sleeping position: Both beds should accommodate back sleepers. Side sleepers will fare better on the Evolution, while stomach sleepers may prefer the Saatva’s lifted feel.
- Cooling: The Nolah Evolution came out on top in our temperature regulation test, thanks to its innovative cooling features.
- Body weight: Heavyweight sleepers will most likely prefer the Saatva. They can also check out the Nolah Evolution’s Comfort+ model made for plus-size sleepers.

Other Models from Saatva
Saatva also offers a wide range of luxury mattresses with specific features and varied constructions. Let’s compare some of the other popular Saatva beds we’ve reviewed with the Classic.
Saatva Classic vs Saatva Rx
The Saatva Rx is the brand’s innovative hybrid for those with chronic pain concerns. It features a unique foam-topped coil unit and dense foam layers for a blend of pressure relief and support. While the Saatva Classic excels in lift, this bed works to cradle your joints and sensitive areas, making it a better option for seniors and back and joint pain.
- Price: A queen-size Saatva Rx costs over $3,000, making it the more expensive option.
- Sleeping position: All positions should find some comfort on both beds, but dedicated side sleepers should fare best on the Saatva Rx.
- Cooling: Both beds are relatively cool, but we think the Classic’s dual coil unit has the edge over the Rx.
- Body weight: Heavyweight sleepers might prefer the Classic’s lifted feel, but it’s worth noting that Saatva has a bed designed for these folks, the Saatva HD.

Saatva Classic vs Saatva Latex Hybrid
Saatva’s Latex Hybrid is a mattress that features both latex and coils. Latex gives this bed a more buoyant feel, which should give it a similar amount of response to the Classic’s coil-on-coil construction. Both beds are great options if you’re looking for a luxurious, bouncy mattress. However, the Saatva Latex Hybrid only comes in one firmness option, which we rated at 7.5 out of 10.
- Price: At around $2,500, the Saatva Latex Hybrid runs $500 more than the Classic for a queen.
- Sleeping position: Both of these beds should fare well for back and stomach combination sleepers.
- Cooling: Both beds also had comparable cooling scores, though the Latex Hybrid feels noticeably cool to the touch.
- Body weight: Heavyweight sleepers should feel relatively supported on both of these beds. Lightweight sleepers, however, may have better luck with the Classic’s Soft model.
