According to our product tester, this contributed to its ultra-soft, cozy feel and quietness. She gave it a perfect 5 out of 5 in our materials category.
“This blanket is completely cotton with no fill; it’s just the chunkiness of the fabric that gives it weight,” our tester said. “I adore it. It feels strong, like I couldn’t rip it if I tried. Plus, no fill means no noise! It sounds just like a normal blanket.”

Luxome describes its weighted blanket as “minky,” and according to Livvi, it delivers on that expectation. After spending a few nights with the Luxome Weighted Blanket, she gave it a near-perfect 4.5 out of 5 in our materials category.
“This blanket is incredibly soft, described as ‘minky’ on the Luxome website, which I’d agree with,” Livvi said. “It feels like one of those velvety throw blankets, but obviously much more heavyweight. I don’t foresee any tearing or durability issues.”
Livvi was also pleased to see that, despite its glass-bead filling, the Luxome Weighted Blanket maintained even weight distribution and remained quiet during use. She gave it a 4.5 and 4 out of 5 in our weight distribution and noise categories, respectively.
“I haven’t noticed any pooling, and I have little to no upper-body strength, so I definitely would’ve noticed if everything shifted to one side,” Livvi said. “Maybe it’s because the beads are tiny and made of glass, so perhaps the interior design just keeps them from moving around. I never feel the weight more on one side of my body when lying underneath it.”
Livvi also gave it a perfect 5 out of 5 in our care category because it is easy to clean. According to the Luxome website, the weighted blanket and its removable covers (aside from the XL cover) are machine-washable.
That said, Livvi noted that the Luxome Weighted Blanket’s bamboo lyocell material didn’t feel quite as temperature-regulating as advertised. Additionally, at $195 before discounts, it might be a bit pricey for budget-conscious shoppers.

“One of the benefits of the Bearaby Cotton Weighted Blanket is that it’s machine-washable,” Dan said. “Just make sure you use cold or lukewarm water and a mild detergent. You can also put it in a tumble dryer, but be sure to check your washer’s weight capacity. For instance, we ordered the 15-pound blanket, but if it were over 20 pounds, we’d probably have to hang-dry it or take it to a laundromat.”
However, Dan noted that he would have appreciated some extras with the blanket for how pricey it is ($269 before any discounts). His only other downside was that the holes in the blanket made it a little hard to drape over his feet, and his toes kept poking through.

And after spending a few nights with this blanket, I can confidently say it punches above its price tag. During testing, I awarded it a 4 out of 5 or higher in the value, materials, and care categories.
Like I mentioned previously, Brooklinen delivers on value with this weighted blanket. Most comparable models cost more than $200, but Brooklinen regularly discounts this one to about $143. For something this comfortable and durable, that’s a great deal. Given my experience with this weighted blanket, it easily earned a 5-star rating for value.
Beyond being a good deal, this weighted blanket is comfortable and cozy, especially when you plop it on top of your comforter and existing bedding. I usually wake up freezing, so this is a nice addition to the lineup for the fall and winter season. According to the tag, the fill consists of glass beads. Fortunately, the beads aren’t noisy and stay in place thanks to the pocketed stitching. It is nice and heavy, and the stitching feels durable.
Aside from the material being a bit stiff at first, I don’t have any complaints about its construction overall. I gave it a strong 4 out of 5 in the materials category.
